TNZ Apparels Ltd workers did not receive any payment while Apparels Plus Eco Ltd workers only received 70% of one month's salay, workers of the companies, owned by TNZ Group, said today (27 March).
The workers said this just hours after Labour Adviser M Sakhawat Hossain announced that disgruntled workers of TNZ Group's Apparel Eco Plus Ltd were paid their dues by selling factory cars.
The TNZ workers will hold a press conference at around 11:00am on Friday (28 March) at the Shrom Bhababan in this regard, according to a statement issued by the TNZ workers tonight. The statement was signed by Md Shahidul Islam, Rekha Akhter Tinni, and Md Shaheen Alam.
"A press conference will be held tomorrow at 11:00am am at the Shrom Bhaban at Bijoynagar in Dhaka on behalf of the workers and employees of the TNZ Group regarding the lies of the labor advisor and the wages and bonuses owed to the workers," reads the press statement.
The press statement says that the TNZ Group workers have been staging protest near the Shrom Bhaban for the past five days.
During this, the workers were attacked by the police during a peaceful protest on the way to the Ministry of Labour, they said.
"The Ministry of Labour is supposed to pay all outstanding wages and bonuses by 27 March. But by the afternoon of 27 March, the workers of Apparels Eco Plus Limited received 70% of their one-month salary from the labor ministry, and the remaining two months' salary, Eid bonus, and food allowances are still outstanding," reads the press statement.
"In addition, the workers of TNZ Apparels did not receive a single taka today. Their 2-month salary, Eid bonus, and vacation money are still outstanding. However, the labor advisor said on TV that the owner has sold their car and house and paid all the workers' money. We protest this lie," it adds.
