RFL starts producing fiberglass boats
The venture has initially created employment opportunities for about 200 people
Pran-RFL Group has started commercial production and marketing of fiberglass boats and speedboats in the country.
These fiberglass boats and speedboats are being manufactured in the country with imported raw materials.
According to sources at RFL, the business giant has set up a factory at Danga Industrial Park, in Narsingdi, to produce boats and speedboats using fiberglass–or fibre reinforced plastic (FRP).

The brand of the manufactured products has been named Support, and its official inauguration was held on Sunday.
The new company has initially created employment opportunities for about 200 people.
RN Paul, managing director of Pran-RFL Group, said, "In riverine Bangladesh, boats are in great demand as it is the main public transport by river. In order to keep pace with the modern world, we have introduced fiberglass boats onto the market."
According to RFL sources, these boats are very easily repairable and environmentally-friendly. They also: run faster than wooden boats, do not require repeated painting, are rust resistant, and do not sink easily.
Made of fiberglass, these boats are light in weight, so easily transportable.
The company is using joint technology from the United States and China to build boats and speedboats.
It is learned that machinery was brought in from the two countries and used in the factory.
This RFL factory has the capacity to manufacture 8,000 boats and speedboats a year.
The capacity will increase if additional demand is created on the market, according to sources at the company.
At present, five models of boats are available on the market; they cost between Tk11,900 and Tk7.40 lakh.
These boats have the capacity to transport four to 30 people.
A speedboat costs Tk8.18 lakh and has a capacity of 10 people.
Apart from this, the company will make boats and speedboats according to the demand of buyers.
It is selling Support brand boats and speedboats across the country at showrooms of authorised dealers, Best Buy and EasyBuild.
Buyers can also order Support brand boats and speedboats on shopping websites.
Buyers will receive one year after-sales service.
