Bangladesh Honda expands global footprint with Mexico exports

Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) has exported Honda NX200 motorcycles to Mexico, expanding its overseas operations and marking another step in strengthening Bangladesh's presence in the global motorcycle market.

The shipment follows the company's earlier export of Honda motorcycles to Guatemala and reflects its strategy to expand internationally while maintaining Honda's global quality standards, according to a press release.

BHL, a joint venture between the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) and Japan's Honda Motor Co, Ltd, said the export demonstrates the growing capability of Bangladesh's motorcycle manufacturing sector to supply high-quality products to international markets.

The company said the initiative would support export diversification, local manufacturing, domestic supply chains and employment generation. 

Md Sakirul Islam Khan, special assistant to the prime minister, attended a ceremony marking the export to Mexico as the chief guest.

Sakirul said the government remains committed to creating a business-friendly environment that promotes manufacturing, exports and investment. He described the export to Mexico as a significant achievement that would enhance Bangladesh's global recognition and contribute to employment and export growth.

BHL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Susumu Morisawa said the expansion into the Mexican market reflects the company's continued improvement in production capability, quality assurance and workforce efficiency. He said BHL would continue increasing local procurement, enhancing manufacturing competitiveness and exploring new export markets.

Chief Marketing Officer Shah Muhammad Ashequr Rahman said the export highlights Bangladesh's growing manufacturing capability and Honda's global quality standards. He added that while the domestic market remains the company's priority, exports will support industrial development, technological advancement, localisation and Bangladesh's emergence as a competitive motorcycle manufacturing and export base.

The company also expressed gratitude to the government, the National Board of Revenue, the Duty Exemption and Drawback Office, the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority, customs authorities, banking partners, suppliers, dealers and other stakeholders for supporting its export activities.
