Yunnan delegation visits BCCI to explore deeper cooperation
A delegation from the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province, China, led by Ma Zuoxin, Deputy Director-General, paid a courtesy visit to the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) on 3 December 2025.
During the meeting, Ma Zuoxin highlighted Yunnan's capacity to extend technical cooperation, particularly in the medical and nursing sectors, noting that the province is well positioned to support Bangladesh through institutional partnerships and knowledge-sharing. He also underscored opportunities for collaboration in technical and vocational education, where enhanced cooperation could generate significant value.
Welcoming the delegation, BCCCI President, Mohd Khorshed Alam, stressed the need to establish medical and nursing institutes in Bangladesh through joint initiatives to meet rising national demand. He also emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation in polytechnic and technical education by leveraging Chinese expertise and technology to improve institutional performance. He further identified strong prospects for collaboration in renewable energy, particularly in expanding solar power projects.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation in health (especially nursing), tourism, technical and vocational education, textiles, trade fairs and expos, investment, and renewable energy. The discussions underscored the importance of deepening strategic engagement between Bangladesh and China, with particular focus on enhancing ties with Yunnan Province.
BCCCI was also represented by Secretary General, Jamilur Rahman; Senior Vice President, A Z M Azizur Rahman; former Senior Vice President, Brig Gen (Retd) Sultan Uddin Iqbal (Bir Pratik); former Joint Secretary General, Md Faizul Alam; Member, Dr Farial Choudhury; and Executive Director, Md Abu Taher.
The visiting delegation included Yin Hongda, Director of the International Exchanges and Cooperation Division of the Health Commission of Yunnan Province; Yang Yue, Deputy Director of the Policies and Regulations Division of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province; and Wang Qianwen, Staff Member of the South Asian Affairs Division of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province.
