Women comprise 65% of awardees at IUB’s Academic Awards Ceremony 2025
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised the Academic Awards Ceremony 2025 on Thursday, 4 December, at the university auditorium, recognising students for outstanding academic performance up to the Autumn 2024 semester.
Students were honoured under five merit categories based on sustained academic excellence. The Vice-Chancellor's Honour List includes those who achieved a CGPA of 3.86 or higher for three consecutive semesters, while the Vice-Chancellor's List recognises students maintaining a CGPA of at least 3.50 over the same period. To qualify for the Dean's Honour List, students must secure a CGPA of 3.76 or above in two successive semesters, while the Dean's Merit List includes those maintaining a minimum CGPA of 3.50 for two consecutive semesters. Students earning a CGPA above 3.50 in any single semester are placed on the Dean's List. A student may qualify for more than one list.
All awardees received certificates. Students who make the Vice-Chancellor's Honour List and Dean's Honour List receive cash prizes of Tk 10,000 and Tk 5,000 respectively.
A total of 1,310 students earned places on the merit lists in Autumn 2024, representing 12% of the student body. This marks a continued rise from previous semesters—1,109 awardees (11%) in Summer 2024 and 974 awardees (10%) in Spring 2024—reflecting steady growth in both the number and proportion of high-performing students. Notably, women accounted for 65% of this year's award recipients.
