Walton Hi-Tech wins Green Factory Award 2025

Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC has once again been honoured with the prestigious Green Factory Award 2025 in recognition of its commitment to enhancing productivity through a skilled workforce and eco-friendly technologies within safe working environments. The award was presented by the Ministry of Labour and Employment in the electrical and electronics manufacturing category during a ceremony held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium, Dhaka, on the morning of 24 June 2025.

Dr M Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Shipping, handed over the award to Md. Yusuf Ali, Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC. Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, attended as special guest, while A H M Shafiquzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, chaired the event.

Expressing his gratitude, Md. Yusuf Ali said, "Walton has received the Green Factory Award for the second time. On behalf of the Walton family, I thank the Ministry of Labour and Employment and all related parties for recognising our efforts with this esteemed award."

He highlighted Walton's firm commitment to manufacturing environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, world-class electrical, electronics, home and kitchen appliances. The company has integrated state-of-the-art eco-friendly technologies and machinery across its manufacturing plants for refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, washing machines, compressors, and other products.

Aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Walton has implemented significant initiatives such as rooftop solar projects and the country's largest floating solar power plant with a capacity of 1 megawatt. Additionally, the company has adopted plastic and metal recycling practices at its factories.

Since its inception, Walton has embedded green practices in its manufacturing processes, embracing the 'Goal Zero' initiative, which aims for zero harm to people, the environment, and property, alongside achieving zero net carbon emissions. To protect the environment, Walton is engaged in various programmes including the use of environment-friendly gases, waste minimisation and recycling, composting, application of energy-efficient technologies, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, installation of renewable energy, and water recycling.

Walton's commitment to sustainability has earned the company numerous accolades, including the National Environment Award 2018, the President's Industrial Development Gold Award 2018, the Gold Crest of the National Export Trophy 2022, and the Green Factory Award 2023.
