Jamaat ameer offers unconditional apology for all past wrongs, including during Liberation War
Speaking during a recent talk show, Thikanay Khaled Muhiuddin, Dr Rahman said, "Not just for 1971, I have sought unconditional forgiveness from all those who may have been hurt or harmed by us in any way from 1947 until today"

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has publicly offered an unconditional apology for all actions that may have caused pain or harm to people at any time since 1947, including during the Liberation War of 1971.
Speaking during a recent talk show, Thikanay Khaled Muhiuddin, Dr Rahman said, "Not just for 1971, I have sought unconditional forgiveness from all those who may have been hurt or harmed by us in any way from 1947 until today."
The remarks came in response to a question regarding a previous press conference, where Dr Rahman had apologised following the acquittal of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam in a war crimes case. He was asked to clarify whether his apology included the events of 1971.
Addressing the matter, he stated, "Yes, not just for '71. I have sought forgiveness without condition from everyone who may have suffered because of us at any point since 1947."
"Just as individuals can make mistakes, a group or a political party can also take wrong decisions. What is right or wrong will ultimately be determined by history. What is deemed a mistake today might be seen as the right decision tomorrow," he added.
Dr Rahman also said, "We are an ideological party. We believe that humans are not above error. Our actions or those of our colleagues may have caused pain or damage. For all of that, I have asked for forgiveness without placing any conditions."
"There is no defeat or shame in asking for forgiveness," he said. "I have done so from a place of moral responsibility and human values."
