UCB attains ISO 27001:2022 information security certification
United Commercial Bank PLC has received the internationally recognised ISO 27001:2022 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS), marking a significant milestone in the bank's commitment to safeguarding information and managing cyber risks in the digital era.
A certificate handover ceremony was held on Monday at UCB's head office, where Mukut K Barua, Country Head (Bangladesh) of Bureau Veritas, and Moshiul Islam, CEO of EIC, formally handed over the certification to UCB Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, according to a press release.
Additional managing directors, divisional heads, and senior officials of the bank were present at the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid said cyber threats are growing rapidly alongside digital transformation.
'With the attainment of ISO 27001:2022 certification, UCB's information security framework has become even stronger and fully aligned with international standards,' he said.
UCB has consistently focused on ensuring the security of its IT infrastructure by maintaining international standards and adopting state-of-the-art information technology. The achievement of the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification is a continuation of that commitment. The bank's IT security framework has never been compromised, nor has its service delivery been disrupted.
As part of its ongoing digital and technological advancement, UCB has developed a highly secure data centre, a large-scale virtualisation platform, a robust core banking system, and a well-managed, load-balanced network infrastructure. The bank also has advanced software development capabilities, and a dedicated in-house core banking system customisation team, further strengthening operational resilience and service reliability.
The latest certification reinforces UCB's commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and globally compliant banking services to its customers.
