UCB appoints new managing director
United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has appointed veteran banker M Latif Hasan as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Head of Structured Corporate, according to a statement.
Hasan previously served as Head of Corporate Banking at Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Bangladesh. UCB noted that he brings over three decades of experience, which is expected to bolster the bank's corporate banking capabilities.
In his new role, Hasan will lead the Structured Corporate Division, with a focus on expanding specialised corporate financing solutions, deepening client relationships, and supporting business growth through sustainable strategies, the bank added.
Throughout his career, Hasan has held senior positions at both international and local banks. He previously served as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Business Officer at Standard Bank Limited, and has also worked with Citibank N.A., Eastern Bank Limited, and Prime Bank Limited.
According to UCB, his areas of expertise include corporate relationship management, business development, credit and risk management, finance, and banking operations.
Hasan also served as a member of the Basel II core implementation team and the tax reform committee, according to the bank. He is a Credit Skill Assessment (CSA)-certified professional from Omega Performance, US.
Hasan completed a master's degree in finance from the University of Dhaka and later obtained an MBA from Victoria University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.
