Syngenta hosts health camp for women farmers at women’s day event in Charghat
Syngenta Bangladesh Limited, in partnership with the local government, marked International Women's Day 2026 alongside women farmers under its 'SheShines' initiative at Sardah Union Parishad, Charghat, Rajshahi.
Organisers said the programme brought together women farmers, community leaders, and government officials to acknowledge the role of rural women in agriculture and to promote their social and economic empowerment.
Jannatul Ferdous, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Charghat, attended as chief guest. The Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer, representatives from Sardah and Nimpara Union Parishads, Syngenta Bangladesh's Director (Human Resources) and Legal Counsel, and representatives from Charghat Upazila Health Complex were present as special guests.
"Women farmers play a crucial role in strengthening Bangladesh's agricultural sector. Initiatives such as SheShines are helping rural women gain skills, confidence, and recognition. Such efforts are vital to ensuring inclusive agricultural development and empowering women at the grassroots level," Ferdous said.
As part of the programme, Dr Tasnim Monira, Assistant Surgeon at Charghat Upazila Health Complex, conducted an awareness session on health and nutrition. A free health camp was also organised, offering general health check-ups for participating women farmers.
Syngenta said the SheShines initiative reflects its commitment to inclusive growth, women's empowerment, and improving financial and market access in rural communities.
Syngenta is a science-based agri-technology company and a joint venture public limited company of Syngenta AG, Switzerland, and the Government of Bangladesh through Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), according to the organisers.
