Sylhet Range Police and bKash hold joint workshop on prevention of MFS misuse

To strengthen security in the Mobile Financial Service (MFS) sector and prevent its misuse in criminal activities, bKash has been conducting training workshops for law enforcement officers across the country. As part of this ongoing initiative, a day-long workshop titled "Investigation and Prevention of Misuse of Mobile Financial Services" was recently held in Sylhet for officers of the Sylhet Range Police.

The workshop was attended by 50 investigating officers and took place at a hotel in Sylhet city. Md Mushfequr Rahman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Sylhet Range Police, was present as chief guest. Other notable guests included Dr Md Nazibur Rahman, former Additional IGP and advisor to bKash, and Major A K M Monirul Karim (Retd), Executive Vice President and Head of External Affairs at bKash.

The sessions covered how officers can identify criminal gangs through digital transaction tracking, recover lost customer funds using advanced technology, and respond effectively to incidents such as kidnapping and fraud. Participants were also briefed on how to coordinate with bKash officials during investigations.

Over the last three months, similar workshops have been conducted in Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Satkhira, Sunamganj, and Sylhet. A total of 400 investigating officers from these districts have received training under this initiative.

Since 2017, bKash has trained around 4,500 officers from various law enforcement agencies through such programmes, aiming to build greater capacity in combating the misuse of MFS platforms.
