SUST IPE department to celebrate 30th anniversary with grand reunion

The Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary along with a grand reunion event. The vibrant festivities will take place on the university campus on 7 and 8 February 2025.

The announcement was made during a press conference held on 2 February 2025 at the Shahjalal University Press Club. Professor Dr. Muhammad Mahamud Hasan, Head of the IPE Department and Convener of the Organizing Committee, led the briefing. Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hayat Mithu, Professor Dr. Ahmad Sayem, Assistant Professors Md. Mehedi Hasan Kibria, Md. Shariful Haque Shishir, Md. Samiul Islam Nahin, along with journalists from the SUST Press Club, were present.

Professor Dr. Chowdhury Abul Anam Rashed, Treasurer of the event and faculty member of the IPE Department, shared the event details. The two-day celebration will begin on 7 February at 7:30 AM with the opening of booths, followed by a rally, balloon release, and cake-cutting ceremony at 9:00 AM. The Vice-Chancellor of SUST, Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, will attend the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

Later that day, an award ceremony will honor winners of the IPE Sphere Contest, featuring three competitions: Case Competition, Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD), and Project Fair. Prizes worth around 2.5 lakh BDT will be distributed to the winners. The first day will end with a cultural event.

The second day will include social gatherings, family-friendly activities, games, and entertainment. Highlights include alumni vs. academia cricket and football matches, special recognition awards, prize distributions, a lucky draw, and a raffle draw. The festivities will conclude with an open concert featuring popular bands Miles and Avoid Rafa, as well as performances by SUST's own RIM Musical Club and Nongor.

Around 800 graduates from the IPE Department are expected to join the grand celebration, making it a memorable occasion for all.
