Summit, AACT host iftar for migrant workers in Singapore
Summit Power International Limited (SPIL) and the Anjuman & Aziz Charitable Trust (AACT) jointly hosted an iftar for around 440 migrant workers in Singapore during Ramadan, many of them Bangladeshi nationals.
Muhammed Aziz Khan PBM, founder chairman of Summit Group and AACT, joined the workers to break fast at a dormitory in Space@Tuas on 12 March 2026.
The event was organised to show appreciation for migrant workers in Singapore. It was the second Singapore iftar event sponsored by SPIL, the Singapore-headquartered parent company of Bangladesh's largest private-sector power producer.
Speaking at the event, Muhammed Aziz Khan said, "Social responsibility is at the core of our business and personal lives. We are privileged to host this iftar event for migrant workers, many of whom are Bangladeshi and play an important role in driving economic growth through remittances."
Beyond organising the iftar, SPIL and AACT said they remain involved in long-term social responsibility efforts in both Bangladesh and Singapore.
Muhammed Aziz Khan, a Singapore citizen of Bangladeshi origin, received the Public Service Medal (Covid-19) in 2023 for supporting Bangladeshi workers who were isolated in dormitories during the pandemic.
Summit Group is one of Bangladesh's largest infrastructure conglomerates, with investments in power, energy, ports, logistics and telecommunications. Summit Power International, incorporated in Singapore in 2016, operates as an infrastructure developer and operator in South Asia.
The group recently received the Reuters Global Energy Transition Award 2024 in the "Projects of Impact" category for providing solar power to remote river-island communities and improving energy access, livelihoods and climate resilience.
Founded in 2020 by Muhammed Aziz Khan and his wife Anjuman Aziz Khan, AACT works to provide quality education to disadvantaged children across Bangladesh.
