Tuku inaugurates 20kW solar power system at Tangail fish seed farm
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku inaugurated a 20-kilowatt solar power system at a fish seed production farm in Tangail's Atpukurpar area today. He said renewable energy would help reduce production costs and make government fish farms more sustainable.
During the visit, he inspected the farm's infrastructure and production activities, reviewed its operations with officials, and planted a sapling on the premises, according to a press release.
Officials briefed the state minister on the farm's ponds, hatchery, and fish fry production and preservation activities. They also discussed the current state of fish seed production, ways to increase capacity, and the use of modern technology.

Tuku said producing high-quality fish seed was essential to meeting the country's growing demand for fish. He added that the government was working to increase fish production and strengthen the fisheries sector by ensuring the availability of safe, high-quality fish seed.
He said he hoped increasing the capacity of government fish farms and modernising their facilities would give fresh impetus to the country's fish production.
After inaugurating the solar power system, the state minister said the initiative would make the farm's electricity management more sustainable and cost-effective.
He said expanding the use of renewable energy at government farms would reduce production costs while helping protect the environment. He added that the government would introduce similar environmentally friendly technologies at other government fish farms in phases.
Department of Fisheries Dhaka Division Director Md Ahsan Hasib Khan, Md Mashiur Rahman, director of the project for infrastructure development to enhance the capacity and fish production of existing government fish farms, and Tangail District Fisheries Officer Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir attended the inauguration.
Senior Department of Fisheries officials, project officials, representatives of the local administration, and local dignitaries were also present.
