SQ Group wins two golds, jury’s special award at inaugural ESG Excellence Awards
SQ Group, the Bangladesh manufacturing arm of Singapore-headquartered Q Collection, has received three honours at Bangladesh's inaugural ESG Excellence Awards for its work in sustainability, women's leadership and workforce development.
The recognition comprises two sector-leader gold awards and a jury's special award, highlighting the group's environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives, according to a press release.
SQ Group received the "Gold Award – Sector Leader" in the "Excellence in ESG Strategy & Policy Implementation" category.
The award recognised its efforts to strengthen ESG governance and implement its Environmental and Social Management System across operations, alongside continued investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The group received a second "Gold Award – Sector Leader" in the "Excellence in Gender Equity & Women Leadership Advancement" category for creating opportunities for women to advance within manufacturing.
Its Female Supervisor Programme supports women in moving from factory-floor roles into supervisory and leadership positions. The programme is complemented by day-care facilities and dedicated facilities for new mothers.
SQ Group also received the "Jury's Special Award – Outstanding Story" in the "Excellence in Skills Development & Workforce Upskilling" category.
The award highlighted its investment in structured training and the Integrated Digital Academy, the group's digital learning platform.
The initiative aims to strengthen employees' technical, digital and leadership capabilities as manufacturing becomes increasingly driven by technology.
The group said the three honours reflected progress across its operations, opportunities for women and efforts to prepare its workforce for the future.
SQ Group and Q Collection described the awards as a milestone in their ongoing ESG journey.
They said ESG formed part of their approach to building a responsible, inclusive and competitive manufacturing business, extending beyond reporting and compliance requirements.
