SICIP hosts workshop on BIRDI grants for industry-led innovation

The Finance Division's Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP) held a workshop on Bangladesh Industry Research, Development and Innovation (BIRDI) Grants at Hotel Intercontinental Dhaka.
The event guided prospective applicants on submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) for grants.
The workshop served as a platform to disseminate information on the EOI submission process and the selection criteria for the grants. The BIRDI grants are a central component of SICIP's initiative to fund practical, industry-led solutions that drive growth and innovation.
The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from the Finance Division, senior academics from leading universities, research institutions, industry associations, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Mohammed Walid Hossain, Additional Secretary and Executive Programme Director of SICIP, delivered the welcome address. He said: "We encourage all eligible applicants to prepare and submit their Expressions of Interest for this grant opportunity, which represents a unique chance to transform innovative ideas into tangible industry solutions."
Dr Ziaul Abedin, Additional Secretary of the Finance Division, highlighted the strategic importance of the initiative. "The BIRDI grant is designed to foster a culture of research and development within our industrial sector. This is not just about funding projects; it is about building a more competitive and resilient economy for Bangladesh," he said.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion, during which participants clarified the EOI guidelines with the organisers.
