LGED holds workshop on climate-resilient materials
The inception workshop on the 'Assessment of Best Practices in Terms of Building Materials' took place at the seminar room of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) headquarters on Tuesday, 5 May.
Organised by the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre, the event forms part of the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project, currently being implemented by LGED.
Additional Chief Engineer and Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre Director Md Azharul Islam presided over the session.
Additional Chief Engineer Syeda Asma Khatun attended as the chief guest.
Syeda Asma Khatun underscored the importance of climate-resilient, high-quality construction materials for sustainable infrastructure development.
"This LGED and CReLIC initiative will enable the dissemination of best practices in modern, eco-friendly building materials at the field level," she said.
Professor Dr Md Jahangir Alam, team leader of EQMS Consulting Limited—the appointed consultancy—delivered a presentation outlining the firm's approach.
Additional Chief Engineers Molla Mizanur Rahman, Kazi Saiful Kabir, Md Wahiduzzaman and Md Golam Mowla, as well as Superintending Engineers Md Hamidul Haque, Md Anisul Wahab Khan and Md Akhtar Hossain, attended the workshop.
Project directors, executive engineers, and senior assistant engineers were also present.
CReLIC Project Director Md Abdul Khaleque; CReLIC Executive Engineers Md Latif Hossain and Fatema Ismat Ara; Assistant Engineer Arpan Paul; and specialist consultants Md Abdul Nur, Md Shahidul Islam, Md Sadequr Rahman Bhuiyan, Md Masudur Rahman, and Syed Mahbub Ahsan attended.
