SBCCI unveils flagship magazine Helvetic, holds 14th AGM
The Switzerland-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry unveiled its flagship magazine, "Helvetic", and held its 14th annual general meeting at Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel.
The event was presided over by SBCCI President Engineer Abdur Rashid and attended by Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Renggli as the chief guest, reflecting deepening trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Ahead of the annual general meeting, SBCCI hosted a pre-national budget 2026–27 discussion session, led by Director and Legal and Finance Standing Committee Head Debabrata Roy Chowdhury.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Hasan Mohin Chartered Accountants.
Following a detailed discussion, the chamber urged the government to pursue a revenue growth-led tax policy instead of relying on tax rate increases.
In his address, SBCCI President Engineer Abdur Rashid reaffirmed the chamber's commitment to advancing bilateral economic relations through collaboration and innovation.
SBCCI Secretary General Saad Omar Fahim emphasised "Helvetic" as a bridge for intellectual, commercial and cultural exchange.
Senior Vice-President Saiful Islam, delivering the vote of thanks, described the occasion as a historic milestone.
Mohammad Abul Hasnat, director and editor of "Helvetic", outlined the magazine's vision to document success stories, investment opportunities and heritage, while fostering dialogue among businesses and policymakers.
Members welcomed the initiative, recognising "Helvetic" as a vital step towards stronger communication and global engagement.
Distinguished attendees included SBCCI Vice-President Dr Tarun Patwary, SBCCI directors Vidiya Amrit Khan, Hedayet Ullah, Sontosh Chandra Nath, Harun-Ur-Rashid and Milos Mladenovic; Nestlé Bangladesh PLC Chairman and Managing Director Deepal Abeywickrema; and Khaled Chowdhury from the Embassy of Switzerland.
The event was coordinated by SBCCI's Mohammad Mohi Uddin Bhuiyan.
The ceremony concluded with appreciation for members and partners, reaffirming SBCCI's dedication to strengthening trade, investment and strategic collaboration between Switzerland and Bangladesh.
