Rally highlights diabetes awareness at Evercare Hospital Dhaka
Evercare Hospital Dhaka organised a community awareness rally on World Diabetes Day to promote diabetes prevention, early detection, and long-term management.
Healthcare professionals and hospital staff joined the event to highlight healthy lifestyle practices and raise awareness of diabetes risk factors.
Held under the theme "Diabetes in the Workplace", the rally began at the hospital's main entrance and featured educational activities, poster displays, and interactive counselling sessions conducted by specialists from the Diabetology and Endocrinology Department.
Professor Dr Abdul Mannan Sarker, Coordinator and Senior Consultant, Diabetology and Endocrinology; Dr Ahsanul Haq Amin, Senior Consultant; Dr Nazmul Islam, Senior Consultant; and Dr Fahmida Zabeen, Senior Consultant, Paediatrics and Neonatology, were present. Hospital leadership, including Dr Ratnadeep Chaskar, CEO and Managing Director, Evercare Hospitals, Bangladesh, and Dr Arif Mahmud, Group Medical Director, also attended.
"The turnout shows growing public awareness about diabetes and the importance of proactive health management," said Dr Chaskar.
Dr Arif Mahmud noted that Evercare prioritises preventive healthcare and public health education, adding that such community-focused initiatives strengthen efforts to help people manage chronic diseases.
Professor Dr Abdul Mannan Sarker said regular screening is critical for prevention and early intervention, enabling patients to manage blood sugar levels and reduce the risks of complications such as kidney and heart disease.
Dr Ahsanul Haq Amin stressed that diabetes awareness must extend to families and communities, emphasising proper diet, physical activity, and stress management for at-risk individuals.
Dr Nazmul Islam highlighted the importance of monitoring weight, limiting sugar intake, and understanding blood sugar trends, while Dr Fahmida Zabeen noted the rising incidence of diabetes among children due to poor lifestyle habits, and urged early consultation and awareness.
