Prime Bank joins export diversification refinance scheme
Prime Bank PLC has joined Bangladesh Bank's Export Diversification Refinance Scheme as a participating financial institution, allowing it to provide refinance facilities to its export-oriented clients.
The participation agreement is expected to expand support for businesses seeking to diversify their products, enter new international markets and improve competitiveness, according to a press release.
Prime Bank Chief Executive Officer Faisal Rahman and Bangladesh Bank Sustainable Finance Department Director AKM Nurunnobi recently signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Under the scheme, Prime Bank will be eligible for refinance facilities to support export-oriented industries in the priority and special development sectors identified in Bangladesh's Export Policy 2024–2027.
The scheme aims to encourage exporters to diversify their products and explore new international markets while strengthening Bangladesh's export base beyond traditional sectors.
Prime Bank said its participation reflected continued efforts to expand access to sustainable and priority-sector financing for Bangladeshi businesses.
The agreement also strengthens the bank's collaboration with Bangladesh Bank and supports the export sector's long-term growth.
