PPPA holds training to build capacity on public-private partnership

The Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) conducted a two-day basic training program on July 30 and 31, 2025, at its Agargaon, Dhaka office to enhance institutional capacity in PPP concepts, modalities, and project development.
The training was inaugurated and concluded by Mr Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Chief Executive Officer (Secretary) of PPPA, who attended as the chief guest. Mr AKM Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of PPPA, chaired the sessions.
A total of 27 officials from various ministries and affiliated organisations participated in the training. Agencies represented included ministries such as Industries and Youth and Sports, as well as major organisations like the National Sports Council, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation, Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority, Ministry of Planning, Carew & Company, and the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation with its associated sugar mills.
In his closing remarks, the Chief Executive Officer thanked all participants for their active engagement and commitment to professional growth. He highlighted the tremendous opportunity for public entities to embrace the PPP model and celebrated Bangladesh's growing PPP portfolio—now over 80 projects strong—as evidence of what is possible through dedication and innovation.
He encouraged participating organisations to take specific action by first identifying any unused or under utilised lands within their jurisdiction. He then instructed them to draft and submit project concept notes on these lands to the PPP Authority through their respective ministries. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration and strategic thinking to more effectively leverage PPPs for transformative development outcomes.
This initiative is part of the Authority's broader efforts to promote effective public-private collaboration and enhance institutional readiness for delivering national infrastructure and development goals.
