Popular Life wins first prize in anti-drug campaign

In observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Department of Narcotics Control organised a discussion and award ceremony on 26 June 2025 at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.

The event was graced by the Honorable Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury as chief guest. Special guests included Md. Khoda Bokhs Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Nasimul Gani, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Md. Hasan Maruf, Director General of the Department of Narcotics Control, chaired the ceremony. Distinguished attendees also included senior officials such as Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration; Siddiq Zobair, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Education; M A Akmal Hossain Azad, Senior Secretary of the Planning Commission; and high-ranking military and security leaders including Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui (Border Guard Bangladesh), Major General Abu Mohammad Sarwar Farid (National Security Intelligence), Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Haque (Bangladesh Coast Guard), and others.

Popular Life Insurance Company Limited was honoured with the first prize for its exemplary management and active contribution to anti-drug initiatives and the observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse 2025. The accolade was presented to B M Yusuf Ali, Managing Director and CEO of Popular Life Insurance Company Limited, by the Honourable Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
