POMAC 5.0 wraps up, spotlighting young policy innovators

Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Economics Club successfully concluded the fifth edition of its flagship event, the Policy-Making Competition (POMAC 5.0), presented by Rupali Bank PLC and powered by Trust Bank PLC.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 135 teams representing more than 30 public and private universities across the country.
POMAC 5.0 featured diverse competitive segments, including investment-based case-solving, policy dialogue, and strategic policy presentations. During the policy dialogue round, participants critically examined key issues, including geopolitics, trade, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and proposed reforms through stakeholder-driven discussions. Before the final round of presentations, the top six finalist teams received exclusive mentorship from the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) to refine their ideas and align them with real-world policy challenges. The new Data Visualisation segment showcased individual skills in insight-driven infographics and rapid dataset analysis.
In the case competition, Team Arctic Wolves from North South University emerged as the Champion. Team Reign of Rain from IBA, University of Dhaka and Team Rationals from BUP were awarded First and Second Runner-up positions, respectively.
The Data Visualisation segment also highlighted exceptional analytical talent. Shabnam Sultana and Nafisa Tabassum Maisha, both representing BUP, secured the Champion and First Runner-up positions, respectively, over the 110 individuals.
The closing and prize-giving ceremony was held at the Bijoy Auditorium, BUP, and was graced by Brigadier General Md Shahedul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished faculty members, university officials, representatives of partner institutions, and guests were also in attendance.
POMAC continues to serve as a pioneering platform that cultivates analytical thinking, policy literacy, and leadership among Bangladesh's future policymakers.
