Pearson, British Council honours top students at eleventh outstanding learner awards

Pearson, the world's leading learning company and the UK's largest awarding body, in collaboration with the British Council, hosted the 11th Outstanding Learner Awards 2024 today to honour exceptional students in Bangladesh who excelled in their International GCSE and A Level examinations in 2023 and 2024.

The event occurred at the prestigious Hall of Fame, Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka.

This year, 742 students were recognised for their remarkable achievements. Among them, 40 students earned the World Highest and Asia Highest certificates in various subjects, while 39 secured the Highest Marks in Bangladesh. The awardees included (461) International GCSE students and (202) International A Level students.

Ms. Lisa Evans, Global Marketing Director at Pearson UK, attended as the Chief Guest and lauded the students' exceptional accomplishments. She remarked, "These awards celebrate the incredible potential of our learners, and we are proud to support their journey toward a bright future."

Mr Dan Pasha, Director of Trade & Investment at the British High Commission Bangladesh; Ms Premila Paulraj, Director of Employability at Pearson; Mr Stephen Forbes, Country Director for Bangladesh at the British Council; and Mr Maxim Raimann, Country Exams Director at the British Council Bangladesh, attended the event as special guests. They emphasised the importance of global education in empowering future leaders and fostering innovation

Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun Liton, Regional Development Manager of Pearson Bangladesh, and Ms. Jannatul Ferdous Sigma, also from Pearson Bangladesh, delivered encouraging remarks. They highlighted how Pearson Edexcel qualifications open doors for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education at top institutions worldwide, including BUET, Dhaka University, Oxford University, Harvard University, University of Toronto, and Brown University.

Bangladesh remains a significant hub for Pearson Edexcel qualifications, with a growing number of students achieving international recognition each year.

The British Council and Pearson hope that events like this will continue to inspire students, parents, and schools to achieve even greater success in the future.
