Pathao introduces ‘pathao connect’ for safer offline rides

Pathao, Bangladesh's leading ride-sharing platform, has introduced Pathao Connect, a smart solution to bring the safety of its trusted system to offline rides.
Over 60 percent of daily bike rides in Bangladesh now occur outside ride-sharing apps, raising safety concerns Pathao Connect aims to address.
Unlike rides arranged directly on the street, which offer no tracking, verification, or built-in safeguards, offline trips often carry significant risks, including unverified drivers, a lack of trip records, and no formal recourse in the event of an incident. Pathao Connect ensures that even an offline ride can be linked to the platform's security features. Using a unique code or phone number with a one-time password (OTP), either the user or the rider can register the trip on Pathao. Once connected, the ride becomes fully trackable, rider information is verified, and all of Pathao's safety features—including live location sharing, driver verification, and complimentary trip safety coverage—are activated.
Pathao Connect maintains the flexibility of offline rides, allowing passengers and riders to set their own fares and pay in cash with no additional fees. However, every ride gets Pathao's safety and accountability.
Shahidul Islam, Chief Operating Officer of Pathao, said:
"Every day, millions of people rely on bike rides for convenience, but the risks of unverified trips are real. Pathao Connect is our way of ensuring that no matter the situation—low data, dead battery, or simply convenience—safety doesn't have to be compromised."
To further enhance the experience, riders using Pathao Connect can also earn Pathao Points, redeemable for discounts and exclusive offers on future rides.
By bridging the gap between offline convenience and online safety, Pathao Connect underscores the company's dedication to transforming urban mobility—making city travel safer, easier, and more inclusive for everyone.
