NRBCS focus on remittance growth through streamlined services

NRBC Bank PLC reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing remittance services and supporting national development by hosting a view-exchange session with representatives of exchange houses operating in Bangladesh.

The event was held on Sunday at NRBC Bank's head office, where Chairman Md. Ali Hossain Prodhanía emphasised the critical role of expatriate remittance as one of the key pillars of the national economy.

"Remittance sent by expatriates is vital in meeting the country's foreign currency needs," said the Chairman. "There remains significant scope to increase inflow by addressing informal channels such as hundi. NRBC Bank is simplifying remittance-related services and seeks active cooperation from its key partners—exchange houses and aggregators—to further this goal."

The session was also attended by Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, Managing Director and CEO of NRBC Bank, along with Deputy Managing Directors Kabir Ahmed and Harunur Rashid. Representatives from multiple exchange houses joined the discussion.

Dr Khan highlighted NRBC Bank's extensive branch and sub-branch network, which brings banking services—including remittance disbursement—closer to rural and underserved populations. "With the support of our exchange house partners, we are making remittance delivery faster and more accessible," he said.

Exchange house representatives commended the progress made in digital and doorstep remittance services, crediting technological advancements and efficient collaboration between foreign and local financial institutions. They emphasised the importance of continued partnership to ensure secure, reliable, and convenient remittance experiences for both senders and recipients.

The event concluded with a shared commitment to improve service delivery further, expand awareness among expatriates, and promote the use of official remittance channels to maximise economic impact.
