Norwegian squash pro Chloe Kalvø conducts clinic for female squash players at IUB

Chloe Kalvø, a professional squash player from Norway, hosted a daylong clinic for female squash players at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on November 15, 2024. The event, organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation (BSRF), was held at the IUB Squash Court and attracted 35 participants from various schools and colleges in Dhaka, including several from IUB.

Chloe was joined by her father, Otto Edvard Husby Kalvø, who engaged with participants in thrilling matches, offering expert tips and strategies to improve their skills. The clinic was co-moderated by IUB squash coaches Abu Sowad and Marjan Akter Monika, who provided additional training and support throughout the event.

The clinic presented a unique opportunity for three IUB students – Riyajul Zannat Urdho (Computer Science and Engineering), Joti Rani Roy (Accounting), and Anika Tabassum Kotha (Pharmacy) – to compete against one of the world's top squash players. Urdho and Joti are both currently studying at IUB on squash scholarships.

Chloe also donated professional-grade squash rackets to the top participants, recognizing their potential and motivating their continued development in the sport. Additionally, she gifted sportswear from her own brand, Kalvø, to all participants.

The event was attended by Mr. Rashed Chowdhury, Member of the IUB Board of Trustees, and Brig. Gen. Quamrul Islam (Retd.), General Secretary of BSRF.

IUB inaugurated its international-standard squash court on campus in January 2024 and has since enrolled several students on squash scholarships, aiming to develop players capable of representing Bangladesh in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, where squash will make its debut.
