NDUB English Club wraps up cultural and literary competition
The Notre Dame University Bangladesh English Club (NDUBEC) concluded its week-long intra-university cultural and literary competition with an award-giving ceremony and cultural performances on Tuesday.
The event, titled Light Within the Masquerade, featured actor and National Film Award winner Shahiduzzaman Selim as chief guest.
The competition, which began on 26 August, engaged students from across departments in a range of literary and cultural activities. Highlights included a drama performance, a cosplay segment, and various contests that allowed students to demonstrate their creative and artistic talents.
The programme opened with a welcome address by Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Fr Charles B Gordon, CSC, followed by a short drama performance. Professor Golam Sarwar Chowdhury, Chairman of the English Department, also delivered an inspiring speech to the audience.
In his remarks, Shahiduzzaman Selim praised the students' efforts and encouraged them to stage more productions rooted in Bangladeshi culture, citing the works of Selim Al Deen, Humayun Ahmed and Rabindranath Tagore.
The evening concluded with a farewell to the outgoing executive committee, an award ceremony for winners in different categories, and a vote of thanks from Sr Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, Deputy Director of Student Affairs.
