National University pays tribute to martyrs on Independence Day
National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah paid floral tribute to the heroic sons of the nation on the 55th anniversary of Bangladesh's emergence on the world map.
Marking the Independence and National Day, he placed a wreath at the altar of the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar at dawn today (26 March 2026).
After paying tribute, the vice-chancellor stood in silence for some time in memory of the martyrs.
Among others present with the vice-chancellor were Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Lutfor Rahman, Treasurer Professor Dr ATM Jafarul Azam, acting deans of different faculties, the registrar, the controller of examinations, heads of various departments and offices, as well as teachers, students, officials and employees of the university.
At the same time, directors of the university's regional centres led wreath-laying ceremonies at Liberation War memorials and Shaheed monuments in their respective divisional cities to honour the martyrs of the Liberation War of 1971.
Meanwhile, at sunrise on 26 March, the national flag and the university flag were hoisted at the National University campus in Gazipur, the city office and the regional centres.
In addition, Independence and National Day was observed with due dignity at colleges affiliated with the National University.
