Narsingdi launches roadside tree plantation drive
Narsingdi Sadar MP Khairul Kabir Khokon on Wednesday (1 April) inaugurated a large-scale tree plantation drive at Zero Point in Narsingdi, under the government's ambitious '25 crore trees in five years' initiative.
The programme, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, underscores the administration's commitment to climate resilience and environmental sustainability. Khokon serves as the elected representative for Narsingdi-1 (Sadar).
According to Md Reza-i-Rabbi, Executive Engineer of the Narsingdi Road Division, 10,000 saplings will be planted in the initial phase along the Noyapur-Araihazar-Narsingdi-Raipura road.
The Roads and Highways Department, operating under the Road Transport and Highways Division, will implement the initiative.
Multiple species—such as neem, jarul, palash, sonalu, korobi, and cherry—will be planted at designated locations along the route.
Attendees included Narsingdi district BNP Vice-Presidents MA Jalil, Golam Kabir Kamal, Faruk Uddin Bhuiya, and Khabirul Islam Babul, as well as Akbar Hossain, Aminul Haque Bachchu, Zahid Sarkar, Mahmudul Hasan Sumon, and other BNP and associate body leaders.
