Md Rabiul Islam joins SBAC Bank as Additional Managing Director

Md Rabiul Islam, a renowned banker with 36 years of experience, has joined SBAC Bank PLC as Additional Managing Director (AMD).

Before joining SBAC Bank, Mr Islam served as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Acting Managing Director at NRBC Bank. Throughout his career, he has held key roles at Islami Bank, Prime Bank, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Mercantile Bank, NCC Bank, and NRBC Bank.

Mr Islam began his banking career in 1989 as a Probationary Officer at Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. He later moved to Prime Bank and Al-Arafah Islami Bank, where he worked in various departments, including the Export and Foreign Remittance Department at the Motijheel Branch. In 1999, he joined Mercantile Bank, where he served as Branch Manager at the Mohakhali, Gulshan, and Main Branches. He also worked as Deputy Head of the Credit Risk Management Department and Head of the SME Financing Division at the bank's head office. In 2017, he joined NCC Bank as Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) and was Branch Manager of the Motijheel Main Branch. In January 2020, he moved to NRBC Bank as Deputy Managing Director, initially heading the Principal Branch before taking charge as CEO of the Islamic Banking Window. From May 2024, he served as the Managing Director (CC) of NRBC Bank.

Md Rabiul Islam holds a B.Com (Honours) in Finance and an M.Com from the University of Dhaka. He also earned an LL.M. degree from the University of Derby, UK. He has participated in various seminars, meetings, and training programmes both in Bangladesh and abroad on a wide range of banking topics.
