Javier La Rosa to lead Chevron’s global base assets portfolio

Javier La Rosa has been appointed president of Chevron's newly formed Base Assets and Emerging Countries (BAEC) organisation, effective 1 July 2025. He will be based at the company's headquarters in Houston, Texas.
In this expanded leadership role, La Rosa will oversee a diverse portfolio of Chevron's strategic global assets. These include heavy oil operations in the Partitioned Zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, California's San Joaquin Valley, and Venezuela. He will also lead Chevron's domestic gas businesses in Bangladesh and Thailand, as well as non-operated joint ventures in the UK, Canada, and China. The BAEC portfolio also includes emerging opportunities in Egypt and Cyprus, as well as legacy operations in Indonesia.
The appointment follows Chevron Corporation's (NYSE: CVX) February 2025 announcement to streamline its organisational structure, accelerating execution and bolstering long-term competitiveness.
"I am honoured to take on this new role," said La Rosa. "I believe trust is the foundation of all lasting partnerships—whether between people, companies, or countries. Trust is essential to delivering reliable, affordable, and ever-cleaner energy."
La Rosa brings extensive international experience to the position. Most recently, he served as managing director of Chevron Latin America, based in Buenos Aires. His prior roles include leading Chevron's operations in Venezuela, Brazil, and Colombia, as well as overseeing geothermal projects in Indonesia and the Philippines.
Reflecting on his time in Latin America, La Rosa added, "I leave Argentina with great optimism. The region holds enormous promise, especially with Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale play and broader regional energy potential."
Chevron clarified that Eric Walker will continue in his current role as President and Managing Director of Chevron Bangladesh.
