Janata Exchange launches remittance agent points across Italy
Janata Exchange Company SRL (JEC), a subsidiary of Janata Bank PLC, has launched agent points across Italy to facilitate easier and safer remittance transfers to Bangladesh.
The initiative was formally inaugurated at an online event held on Monday, 2 February.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy, ATM Rokebul Haque, addressed the event as guest of honour, while Nazma Mobarek, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, attended as chief guest.
Special guests included Md Fazlur Rahman CSP, Chairman of Janata Bank PLC; Md Al Amin, Economic Counsellor at the Bangladesh Embassy in Italy and Director of JEC; and Giovanni Embergemo, Director of JEC.
The event was chaired by Md Mojibur Rahman, Managing Director of Janata Bank PLC and Chairman of JEC. Kazi Abdur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of Janata Bank, and Md Shahadat Hossain, Acting Managing Director of JEC, also addressed the programme. Mohammad Anis, General Manager of the Overseas Banking Division, moderated the event.
At the event, it was announced that Janata Exchange Company SRL has received approval from the Central Bank of Italy to establish 102 agent points across the country in phases. With agent points situated closer to expatriate communities, Bangladeshi migrants will now be able to send remittances home more easily, securely, and through formal channels, reducing risk and enhancing convenience.
