IUBAT marks 35th founding anniversary
The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), the country's first private university, formally inaugurated its 35th founding anniversary on Friday morning, 16 January, at its permanent campus in Uttara amid festive celebrations.
The inauguration was declared by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdur Rab.
The day's programme began with the hoisting of the national flag and the IUBAT flag, accompanied by the national anthem. Floral wreaths were later placed at the grave of the university's founder, Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan, followed by special prayers and munajat, seeking eternal peace for his departed soul. As part of the observance, balloons were released, and white doves were set free as symbols of peace.
At 10:00am, a cake-cutting ceremony was held, attended by teachers and students from all faculties and departments.
Among those present were Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman; Treasurer Professor Selina Nargis; Registrar Professor Dr Md Momtazur Rahman; Controller of Examinations Brigadier General (retd) Dr Md Zahid Hossain; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Dr Md Monirul Islam; and Dean of the Faculty of Business Professor Mozaffar Alam Chowdhury, along with chairpersons, coordinators, faculty members, and officials from various departments.
A special discussion session was also organised as part of the anniversary programme, with the participation of teachers, students, and alumni. The discussion highlighted IUBAT's achievements in education and research, as well as its future development plans.
Established in 1991, IUBAT was founded by Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan, former director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Over the years, the university has earned recognition as one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh through its commitment to quality education and research excellence.
