IUBAT hosts major career festival with over 1,200 job opportunities
To bring young graduates closer to their career aspirations, the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) organised one of the country's largest employment-focused events, 'Dhaka Bank Presents IUBAT Career Festival 2025'.
The day long festival took place on Saturday from 9am to 5pm on the university's green campus, attracting participation from more than 130 renowned local and international organisations.
As in previous years, the event was organised by IUBAT's Branding and Public Relations Office to ease students' transition into the job market and to strengthen links between academia and industry. This year's festival surpassed previous records in participation, scale, recruitment opportunities and corporate engagement.
A wide range of organisations including corporates, banks, telecom companies, e-commerce firms, IT service providers, healthcare institutions, manufacturing companies, NGOs, hospitality brands and agribusiness enterprises—participated in the festival. Several multinational companies and overseas employment agencies were also present, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of career opportunities.
Thousands of students, graduates and jobseekers visited organisation booths throughout the day. Employers offered more than 1,200 vacancies, conducting on-the-spot CV collection, screening, written tests, group discussions and interviews.
The festival aimed to directly connect students with employers, helping them to understand real-time job market demands, required skill sets, job responsibilities, career pathways and growth opportunities. Students reported that discussions with HR professionals gave them clarity about their strengths and areas for improvement.
HR teams also provided guidance on CV writing, interview techniques, identifying suitable job roles and adapting to corporate culture. Many students received preliminary offers, whilst others were shortlisted for subsequent recruitment stages. Sectors such as IT, banking, digital marketing, data analytics, hospitality and engineering saw significant engagement.
A major highlight was a series of ten Career Sessions led by senior HR experts from various industries. The sessions covered emerging job trends, internships, CV and cover letter development, interview confidence, corporate etiquette, communication, leadership, teamwork, digital skills and new opportunities in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). Students remarked that the sessions broadened their understanding of career planning and future possibilities.
A special panel discussion brought together corporate leaders, successful entrepreneurs and prominent HR experts, who discussed Bangladesh's employment landscape, changing corporate requirements, graduate skill gaps, stronger academia–industry collaboration and workplace values such as ethics and transparency. Panellists noted that academic degrees alone are insufficient—practical skills, the right mindset and hands-on experience are key to long-term success.
The most anticipated segment was the on-the-spot interview sessions. Companies conducted interviews in dedicated booths and seminar rooms, providing many students with their first real corporate interview experience. Faculty members, staff and volunteers ensured smooth logistical support.
Since its inception, IUBAT has prioritised student employability through campus recruitment drives, internships and corporate partnerships. The festival further strengthened this connection, enabling employers to assess students' potential and the quality of education provided by the university. This, in turn, enhances IUBAT's reputation and recruitment outcomes.
Students left the festival with renewed confidence. Many stated that the experience gave them a realistic understanding of job market expectations and helped them to identify essential skills such as digital literacy, communication, teamwork, presentation, problem-solving and time management.
Speaking about the festival, IUBAT Treasurer Professor Selina Nargis said,
'In the 21st century, students must go beyond textbook-based learning and progress through practical experience, research, technology and skills. Direct interaction with the corporate world is vital for employability and career growth. IUBAT continues to create such opportunities to empower students. Events like this enhance confidence, develop skills and open real doors to professional life. IUBAT is committed to offering even broader and stronger career opportunities in the days ahead.'
The 'Dhaka Bank Presents IUBAT Career Festival 2025' stands as another milestone in the university's mission to produce skilled, confident and industry-ready graduates for Bangladesh and beyond.
