IUB school of law shines at bup national moot court 2025
The School of Law at IUB was the runner-up at the BUP National Moot Court Competition 2025, held from September 11 to 14 at BUP, Dhaka.
Organized under the BUP National Law Fest (Chapter II), the competition provided students with a valuable platform to develop their legal research and advocacy skills through simulated court proceedings. Economic sanctions, artificial intelligence, surveillance, and human rights formed the focus of this year's moot problem.
Twenty-seven teams from universities nationwide registered, and following evaluation of memorial submissions, 16 advanced to the oral rounds. IUB was represented by oralists Alisha Mou Esha (2nd semester) and Lokman Shahriar (5th semester), as well as researcher Mysha Sarwar Tuba (2nd semester).
For all three participants, this was their first moot court experience. Guidance came from Maimuna Syed Ahmed, moderator of the IUB Moot Court Society, with additional support provided by the society's Mooting Mentorship Programme.
On 12 September, Team IUB won both preliminary rounds, qualifying for the quarterfinals held later the same day. The semifinals and final matches took place on 13 September at the Bijoy Auditorium. The competition concluded with the closing ceremony of the BUP Law Fest on 14 September at the Shadhinota Auditorium.
