IUB to hold conference on culture, identity and creative industries
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) will host a two-day international conference titled "The Nation and Its Imaginations: Culture and Creative Industries in Bangladesh" on 9-10 April 2026 at its campus in Dhaka.
Organised by the Department of Media and Communication, the conference will bring together academics, researchers and practitioners to examine how culture and creative industries shape national narratives, identities and economies.
The programme will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions and 12 parallel sessions covering a wide range of themes, including media, representation, storytelling, audience perception, and the evolving dynamics of creative industries.
Prof Craig Batty, pro vice-chancellor of the College of Creative Arts, Design and Humanities at the University of Adelaide, Australia, will deliver the keynote address on the opening day. Prof Dr Daniel W Lund, pro vice-chancellor of IUB, will deliver the keynote on the second day.
The conference aims to create a platform for critical engagement with the role of imagination in research, creative practice and policy, with a particular focus on Bangladesh.
