IUB faculty member honoured for supply chain research at IEOM event
Professor Dr Mamun Habib, Head of the Department of Management under the School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has received the Supply Chain Management Award at the 8th IEOM Bangladesh International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.
The conference took place on 20–21 December 2025 at World University of Bangladesh (WUB) and was organised by the IEOM Society International, USA.
The award recognises Professor Habib's sustained contributions to supply chain management research, academic leadership and policy-relevant scholarship. The conference brought together academics, industry leaders and policymakers to discuss contemporary challenges and innovations in industrial engineering and operations management.
Professor Habib also chaired a panel session titled "Lean Six Sigma: Driving Sustainable Excellence in Industrial Operations", which examined the role of process improvement methodologies in supporting sustainability and operational efficiency across industries.
The panel featured Professor Dr Mohammad Faisal Ahammad, Head of the International Business Department at the University of Leeds; Mir Sharif Ahammad, Executive Director and Head of Commercial (Import and Export) at Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC; and Professor Dr Selim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at WUB.
Discussions during the session focused on the strategic integration of Lean Six Sigma tools to enhance productivity, reduce waste and strengthen long-term industrial performance. Professor Habib moderated the session, highlighting the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in driving sustainable excellence. He also served as Technical Chair of the conference.
