IPDC joins hands with Mercedes-Benz

IPDC Finance PLC has launched a state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) charging station at its corporate headquarters in Gulshan, Dhaka, in partnership with Rancon Motors Ltd., the official distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Bangladesh.

The initiative aims to accelerate the shift toward sustainable transportation by offering convenient EV infrastructure for Mercedes-Benz EQ series users and other compatible electric vehicles. The station, equipped with modern safety features, is part of a broader nationwide EV charging network planned by Mercedes-Benz Bangladesh and its technology partner, Crack Platoon Charging Solution Ltd.

The charging station was inaugurated in the presence of Rizwan Dawood Shams, Managing Director of IPDC Finance PLC; Samiul Hashim, Company Secretary and Head of Brand & Corporate Communication at IPDC; Redwanul Zia, CEO of Rancon Motors Ltd.; Chowdhury Md Nabil Hasan, Divisional Head of Marketing at Rancon Motors Ltd.; and other senior officials from both organisations.

Mercedes-Benz currently operates more than 20 AC chargers nationwide. It's the "Charge Easy" app—available on both iOS and Android—enables EV users to locate nearby charging points and pay securely via digital banking or mobile financial services.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rizwan Dawood Shams said, "We are proud to partner with Mercedes-Benz Bangladesh in this green initiative. Sustainability and innovation are at the heart of IPDC's purpose. This EV charging station is a small yet important step toward a greener, cleaner Bangladesh."

He added that a second charging station will soon be installed at IPDC's Chattogram branch.

Redwanul Zia noted, "Our collaboration with IPDC Finance PLC represents a pivotal step in expanding Bangladesh's electric mobility ecosystem. Infrastructure must grow alongside EV adoption—and partnerships like this one will ensure that happens."

Mercedes-Benz and Rancon Motors plan to install over 30 EV chargers across Bangladesh by the end of 2025, including three DC fast chargers. With rising consumer interest in electric vehicles—driven in part by lower fuel costs—initiatives like this are expected to promote broader adoption of EVs across the country.
