INSEE introduces region-specific cement solution in Sylhet
INSEE Cement launched its region-specific composite cement, INSEE Green, in Sylhet at the 'INSEE Green: Cementing Legacy of Strength' summit.
The company stated that the cement provides high strength and durability, offering targeted protection against moisture, chemical attacks, and other environmental stressors found in northern and north-eastern Bangladesh, ensuring longer-lasting structures.
According to INSEE Cement, the product is manufactured using proprietary clinker and premium raw materials.
The summit brought together professors, engineers, and industry professionals to discuss construction challenges posed by the region's acidic, porous soils and high groundwater levels.
INSEE Cement reported that INSEE Green is engineered to reduce permeability and create a denser concrete microstructure, thereby enhancing long-term strength. These features help resist floods, heavy rainfall, and seismic activity, which lengthens the lifespan of buildings and infrastructure built with the product.
Technical sessions were led by specialists from Siam City Cement, while professors from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology provided insights on regional soil conditions and durability challenges.
Key speakers included Dr Kanthasat Boontem, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of INSEE Cement; Mohammad Abu Sayeed, Commercial Director; and GMG Mostafa, Vice President of Operations, along with engineers, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
INSEE Green is the first cement in Bangladesh to hold an internationally recognised Environmental Product Declaration certification, according to the company.
The product is manufactured by Siam City Cement (Bangladesh) Ltd, a subsidiary of Siam City Cement PLC, Thailand.
