IFIC Bank trains 2,400 officials on currency management

IFIC Bank PLC has organised a series of online workshops titled Currency Management by Branches of Scheduled Banks to strengthen and modernise currency management across its network.
The workshops, coordinated by the bank's head office and supported by branches nationwide, were held every Saturday during July and August 2025. More than 2,400 officials participated.
Senior officials of Bangladesh Bank attended as chief guests and resource persons, including Sukumar Sarker, additional director (cash); Md Morshed Alam, additional director (currency); Md Monjur Rahman, additional director; AKM Amirul Islam, joint director; Md Mizanur Rahman, joint director; Brojendra Nath Roy, joint director; Md Abdullah-Al-Mamun, joint director; Md Faruk Hossain, deputy director; Md Atikur Rahman, assistant director; Swaroop Kumar Chowdhury, director (banking); and Ratin Kumar Pal, director.
They conducted sessions on currency policies, note refund regulations, note sorting, counterfeit note detection and prevention, and modern reporting processes.
The workshops were presided over by William Chowdhury, head of the currency management department of IFIC Bank, who praised the role of branch officials in ensuring secure and transparent cash handling.
IFIC Bank said the initiative aims to equip participants with essential skills in cash management, strengthen transparency, and improve efficiency through modern techniques and technology, while contributing to overall security in the banking sector.
