iFarmer, Swisscontact host experience sharing event in Bogura

iFarmer, in collaboration with PRABRIDDHI-Swisscontact, successfully organised an experience-sharing event in Bogura yesterday, bringing together value chain actors and representatives from light engineering (LE) workshops.
The event aimed to foster collaboration among agricultural machinery manufacturers, farmers, and government officials to enhance the development and resilience of the light engineering sector.
The initiative is part of an eight-month project, funded by PRABRIDDHI-Swisscontact and implemented under the "iFarmer Agri-Machinery Experience Centre and Light Engineering Sector Connectivity in Bogura" programme.
The light engineering sector is crucial in supplying locally produced agricultural machinery at affordable prices. However, limited access to financing, technological inefficiencies, and market entry barriers have hindered the sector's growth and potential.
A panel discussion explored ways to strengthen Bogura's light engineering workshops. Additionally, during the experience-sharing session, local farmers and workshop owners shared their success stories and challenges while participants discussed opportunities for future collaboration.
At the event, iFarmer CEO Fahad Ifaz said, "Our goal is to enhance the quality of agricultural machinery and support farmers through the light engineering sector, ultimately accelerating economic growth and technological innovation."
As part of iFarmer's commitment to supporting sustainable agricultural mechanisation, strengthening local enterprises, and contributing to Bangladesh's economic growth, the event brought together nearly 80 representatives, including officials from the Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), farmers, the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh, and private sector stakeholders.
