ICMAB delegation meets NBR chief to discuss tax cooperation
A high-level delegation from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), led by its President, Md Kausar Alam FCMA, paid a courtesy call on National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman and Internal Resources Division Secretary, Md Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, at his office today.
The meeting focused on strengthening the accounting profession, improving taxation policies, and enhancing collaboration between ICMAB and the NBR.
During the meeting, the ICMAB delegation highlighted the important role of cost and management accountants in supporting tax compliance, promoting financial transparency, and enabling evidence-based fiscal decision-making. The delegation also expressed its interest in contributing to ongoing and future revenue administration reform initiatives.
Commenting on the meeting, Md Kausar Alam said, "Professional accountants have a crucial role in building a transparent and efficient financial system. Through active collaboration with the NBR, CMAs are committed to supporting policy development, enhancing compliance, and contributing to the country's sustainable economic growth."
The NBR chairman appreciated the contribution of professional accountants to the country's financial and tax ecosystem and stressed the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation between regulatory authorities and professional bodies.
The ICMAB delegation also included Vice Presidents Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA and SM Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Secretary Monjur Md Shaiful Azam FCMA, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Musfiqur Rahman FCMA, Council Member and Past President Arif Khan FCMA, and Executive Director Md Mahbub-Ul-Alam FCMA.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to closer collaboration to support professional excellence, strengthen tax governance, and contribute to Bangladesh's sustainable economic development.
