HONOR launches Robot Phone with built-in motorised gimbal and ARRI imaging technology
Global AI device ecosystem company HONOR has officially launched the HONOR Robot Phone, a new smartphone featuring a fully motorised gimbal integrated into its design. Developed in collaboration with German cinema camera manufacturer ARRI, the device combines smartphone functionality with advanced imaging capabilities aimed at mobile content creators.
The Robot Phone is positioned as an active physical companion and mobile production studio, with a camera system featuring a 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera, a 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with 2.7x optical zoom and a 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera, according to a press release.
The device features a built-in three-axis mechanical gimbal that physically moves the camera module to absorb shakes and stabilise footage during fast-action shooting. The camera arm also supports movement modes including Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV) and AI SpinShot, allowing users to capture dynamic footage without additional equipment.
Through its collaboration with ARRI, HONOR has incorporated the company's colour science and imaging expertise into the device. The technology is designed to balance bright highlights and deep shadows while preserving natural skin tones and visual detail.
"Hardware sets the foundation for image quality, while algorithms deliver the leap. But technology is only the foundation, what ultimately defines great imaging is aesthetics," said James Li, CEO of HONOR.
"Together with ARRI, we will continue to push the boundaries of creation and inspire a new generation of creators," he added.
The Robot Phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, supporting AI processing, imaging and multitasking. It is equipped with a 7,060mAh HONOR Silicon-carbon battery and supports 120W wired and 50W wireless HONOR SuperCharge technology.
