EuroCham Bangladesh hosts Business Evening 2026 in Dhaka
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh recently hosted the EuroCham Business Evening 2026 at the United Convention Centre in Dhaka, bringing together EuroCham members, the EU Delegation, ambassadors of EU member states, trade representatives, business leaders, partners and government officials.
EuroCham Bangladesh is the official chamber of the European Union in Bangladesh and part of the European Business Organisation Worldwide Network.
The event, themed "Delivering for European Businesses", featured EuroCham's first annual general meeting, the inaugural advisory council meeting and a networking cocktail. Ambassadors from the European Union, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Spain and France attended the programme, alongside representatives from the Netherlands and Italy.
In her remarks, Nuria Lopez, chairperson of EuroCham Bangladesh, highlighted the chamber's advocacy efforts in Brussels on issues such as Bangladesh's GSP+ prospects and the potential for a future free trade agreement. She also underscored EuroCham's role in representing the interests of European investors in Bangladesh and promoting a more transparent and business-friendly environment to attract greater European investment, particularly in manufacturing.
The highlight of the evening was a keynote address by H E Michael Miller, Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh, titled "The EU Means Business in Bangladesh". In his speech, Ambassador Miller described the European Union as a steadfast and reliable partner of Bangladesh, emphasising the strength of the EU's commercial relationship with the country.
He also recalled the EU's support for democratic renewal in Bangladesh and called for a level playing field for European operators, policy stability in the coming period, and the completion of reforms initiated by the interim government to further strengthen bilateral relations.
