Echoes of hope exhibition opens at Alliance Francaise de Dhaka
The healing-centred fundraising exhibition 'Echoes of Hope – Children for Children', organised by the HopeWave Foundation, was inaugurated on 6 January 2026 at Alliance Française de Dhaka's La Galerie, in the presence of artists, cultural practitioners, activists, and members of the media.
The exhibition features drawings, handwritten letters, photographs, and project documentation created by children from Ukhiya, including refugee, indigenous, and underserved communities. Through their work, the children express empathy, resilience, and solidarity with the children of Palestine, highlighting a shared humanity that transcends borders and lived realities.
All exhibited works were produced during a three-day psychosocial art campaign conducted with children in Ukhiya, demonstrating how creative engagement can support emotional healing and expression in children affected by displacement and trauma.
Beyond its artistic focus, 'Echoes of Hope – Children for Children' also serves as a fundraising initiative for children in Gaza. Organised in partnership with PACSOC, all funds raised through the exhibition will be directed to the Owneh Initiative.
Speaking at the inauguration, Munimah Mahreen, poet, activist, and founder of the HopeWave Foundation, said the exhibition is rooted in solidarity and the belief that children's art can convey compassion and hope.
Mubtasim Alvee, curator of the exhibition, said the works reflect shared empathy. François Chambraud, director of Alliance Française de Dhaka, highlighted the role of art in conveying compassion amid conflict.
