EBL to support health services at four Red Crescent Centres
Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has partnered with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to enhance the capacity of select Mother and Child Health (MCH) centres nationwide, prioritising underserved and disaster-prone communities.
The two organisations formalised the partnership with a memorandum of understanding signed at EBL's head office in Dhaka.
EBL's support will focus on four BDRCS MCH centres in Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Brahmanbaria and Dinajpur, which cater to rural and remote populations with limited access to quality healthcare.
At the signing, EBL Head of Administration Maj Md Abdus Salam, psc (Retd), handed over a cheque to BDRCS Secretary General Dr Kabir M Ashraf Alam, ndc, marking the formal launch of the project.
The 12-month programme, entitled "Improving Mother and Child Health Service Provision", aims to benefit approximately 15,000 people, including mothers, children and elderly residents.
The project will enable infrastructure renovation, improved sanitation and water facilities, installation of diagnostic equipment, and regular medical support from general practitioners and gynaecology specialists.
The ceremony was attended by Areefa Mehera Sinha, Director of International Relations, Communications and Fundraising, and Dr Shahana Zafor, Director of the BDRCS Blood Programme, alongside officials from both organisations.
BDRCS currently operates 56 MCH centres, serving approximately 1.4 million people nationwide.
