EBL partners with Akij Takaful to offer Islamic Life Insurance

Eastern Bank (EBL) has entered into a bancassurance agreement with Akij Takaful Life Insurance to offer Shariah-compliant life insurance solutions to its customers.

The partnership aims to enhance financial inclusion by providing ethical, faith-based insurance products through EBL's extensive branch network. With this initiative, customers will have easier access to a wide range of Islamic life insurance (takaful) options designed to protect families while respecting religious values.

"This collaboration is a significant milestone in expanding our service offerings in alignment with the growing demand for Shariah-compliant financial solutions," said M Khorshed Anowar, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail and SME Banking and Chief Bancassurance Officer of EBL.

The agreement was signed today at EBL's head office in Dhaka by M Khorshed Anowar and Mohammad Masuduzzaman Khan, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Corporate Business Officer of Akij Takaful Life Insurance.
Other officials present included EBL Deputy Chief of Islamic Banking A K M Mizanur Rahman; Head of Bancassurance and Student Banking Md Raquib; Akij Takaful Life Insurance Acting CEO Shazzadul Karim; Head of Finance and Accounts Abdus Salam Khondoker; Head of Internal Audit and Compliance Parvez; and AVP Md Kamruzzaman.

The rollout of takaful services through EBL branches is expected to bridge a gap in the market, allowing customers to access products that support long-term financial security in line with their faith.
