EBL extends partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh
Eastern Bank Limited PLC (EBL) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh in 2026, building on the achievements of their 2025 collaboration, with a focus on youth skills development and access to clean water for vulnerable communities.
The renewed partnership will bolster two flagship initiatives—the Vocational Renewal Project and the Clean Water Programme—contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to education, employment, health, and water security.
At a ceremony at EBL's head office in Dhaka, Ashraf Uz Zaman, Head of Planning, Strategy and Governance at Eastern Bank, handed over two cheques to Dr Md Enamul Haque, National Director of SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh, for the programmes.
Under the Vocational Renewal Project, EBL will support skills-based training for vulnerable youth through the SOS Vocational Training Centre (VTC). The programme focuses on market-relevant technical skills, certification, job readiness, and employment linkage to promote long-term economic independence.
"At Eastern Bank, we believe sustainable development begins with empowered youth. By investing in vocational skills, we are enabling young people to build dignified livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to society," said Ashraf Uz Zaman.
Additionally, EBL will support the installation of 16 sustainable model deep tube wells under the Clean Water Programme for Vulnerable Communities. Each system will include a submersible pump, water tank, and solar panel, ensuring environmentally friendly and sustainable access to safe drinking water.
"Meaningful partnerships such as this allow us to move beyond immediate support and invest in sustainable change, where children grow healthier and young people step confidently into the future," said Dr Md Enamul Haque.
The event was attended by Md Arman Kabir Mahid, Officer of Fund Development and Communications at SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh, and Md Maskur Reza, FCA, Head of Business Information Systems at EBL, along with other officials from the bank.
