Eastern University, FBHRO call for skills-focused budget
Eastern University and the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organisations (FBHRO) have jointly urged the government to make human resource development, youth skills, women's employment, and technology-driven job creation top priorities in the upcoming national budget.
This message was central at a pre-budget roundtable in Dhaka today.
The "Pre-Budget Roundtable Discussion" brought together policymakers, academics, human resources professionals, and industry leaders to share insights and recommendations for the upcoming budget.
State Minister for Planning Jonayed Saki MP attended as the chief guest.
In his remarks, he underscored the need for an inclusive, forward-looking budget, emphasising the pivotal role of human resource development, education, and innovation in driving sustainable economic growth.
The programme was chaired by Professor Dr Farid Ahmad Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University and Vice-President of FBHRO.
He called for stronger coordination among academia, industry, and government to formulate policies that address the evolving demands of the economy and labour market.
Dr Mosharraf Hossain, Founding President, FBHRO, delivered the keynote address.
He outlined budget expectations, focusing on job creation, the development of skilled human resources, and private-sector participation. Other speakers included university leaders, FBHRO representatives, and industry professionals.
Tasnuva Rahman, Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration, Director of the MBA, and Director of FBHRO, moderated the event.
The department head and officials from Eastern University were present.
Participants strongly called for the national budget to prioritise human resource development, youth skills, women's employment, industry-academia collaboration, and technology-driven job creation through increased investment in training and entrepreneurship.
Speakers said Bangladesh needs a skilled, technology-oriented workforce to meet the changing demands of the job market.
They stressed that prioritising human resource development in the national budget is crucial for Bangladesh's future.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing dialogue for evidence-based policymaking and sustainable economic growth.
